Trip to NYC Part I
Due to work I have to visit customer offices quite often. Most of the time it’s around the DC, Baltimore area, but occasionally I get to go a bit further out. I have taken a few trips to Boston, a place in upstate NY, and I had to go to training in Dallas for a week. Flying is my preferred method as I live less than 2 miles from Dulles airport.
Today I am headed to NYC to a customers office for a brand new install. Located just a few blocks from Penn station it was decided that I train up from Union Station in DC. Now, I have been on trains before, I spent a few years in Europe and loved them tremendously. I have taken Amtrak from Quantico to Norfolk a few times, but never north of DC so I will admit, I was excited to go on this trip today
So my first leg of the trip was of course, up to NY. It started early enough, my alarm went off at 430 so I had plenty of time to drive into the city and find a place to park, and grab a nice hot cup of coffee before getting on the train. Only mistake,,,,,I left the parking ticket in the car,,,apparently you can only pay at the parking kiosks before leaving. Oh well, a little back and forth is healthy for me.
Here I am now in the dining car (second car back) laptop out, mp3 player also listening to some tunes, and my GPS is also up and running. I mean c’mon, for those who know me you knew I was taking it with me. (currently I am just east of Rossville Maryland traveling at 106 mph). And yes, I have checked out the Geocaches that are around the office location in NYC. I think that I might try to get one just to say I have done one in NYC.
Also while in NYC, I hope to get an hour or so and walk around to Times Square, Rockefeller Center to take pictures of the Seasons decorations.
Something else new for me today is that I am posting this while actually on the train using my new Data Card from At&t on my mac. Now of course I write this before I upload anything so it better work or the next port everyone actually sees is a rant about my stupid card versus the one you just read.
Part II to come later tonight, maybe on the train trip back…..

On the road again - have a great time in NYC. Don’t get mugged too much, now. I hear that can spoil the holiday season.
