Holiday ride

I am standing in a parking lot with about 50 other bikes and riders waiting on the start of a 112 mile group ride. This is my first and I am really excited. I will post more later on the outcome.

AFTER RIDE EDIT:

Todays ride was awesome. Just the thing I was looking for to spend a warm, sunny holiday. I had found this riding group a few months ago when I first got my bike. I had planned on getting 1000 miles under my belt before trying anything like this, but pushing 850 and an itch for a long ride today I looked them up again last night to see if they had anything going on this weekend. Sure enough they did, and to top it off, it was their 1 year anniversary. They were planning about an 100 mile ride and there were 55 riders signed up when I did. Turns out we had little under 50 actually show up.

We started out around 9am and took a nice 2 hour drive thru hills, valleys, along rivers before stopping for lunch in a nice country store that was built inside an old manafacturing building. We ate outside out back on the loading dock overlooking our bikes. I have pics, but I haven’t loaded them from my camera yet. Of course the old stores deli couldn’t keep the pace and it took closer to an hour before everyone got food, and we spent about another just talking and joking around. We eventually all wound up back where we started about 230 to 3 pm. Actual mileage was 122 miles.

I hope to continue riding with this group. Though I don’t think most of their rides will be this big, that’s fine, they pick some nice places to go.

Today was the day that I was looking for these past few months. Today was able to tell me “I told you so” about buying the bike. Today was awesome and I enjoyed every moment of it.
